Milky Oats Tincture

Milky oats, Avena sativa, are a key tonic remedy for a depleted nervous system, nourishing the nervous system and helping to repair the myelin sheath of nerve cells. Gentle gentle, subtly relaxing, an ideal medicine for exhaustion, burn out, transitions, general stress. As a nervine tonic and mild sedative, they can help improve sleep over time as well as in the moment. They also have an affinity for addiction, and pair well with lobelia for assistance quitting nicotine.

Grown with care in richly fertile soil on a small, local NC Piedmont farm, the seed of oats (just like you cook for breakfast) are harvested at an immature stage in which they emit a milky white sap when squeezed. They are then extracted in Organic cane alcohol, with attention to obtaining as much of their milky sap possible. The tincture is cloudy, light green, opaque when shaken. It is rich, a bit creamy in texture, with a grassy sweetness.

One ounce contains 15 2-mL servings. Taken at 2 mL 2x/day, one ounce will last about a week. This standard dosage is for a 150 pound adult and may be adjusted in proportion to the weight of the user. For instance, a 30 pound child would take 1/5 of the 2 mL dose, or 2/5 mL, about half a dropperful. We are happy to help determine the dosage.
