Volume

Evening primrose medicine is gooey, giving a viscous thickness to liquid. This slippery, gooeyness is called mucilage, and it coats, moisturizes and soothes mucous membranes. Most demulcent herbs are best prepared in tea form; however, evening primrose works well in tincture form. Evening primrose can help to moisten any dry condition, but is especially suited for soothing and healing the intestinal tract, an ally for GI dysregulation, irritation, and pain, especially when associated with depression.

We harvested leaves, tender stems and flowers from wild plants growing abundantly weedy in a garden space and tinctured them fresh.

Look for the demulcence in this tincture when you squeeze a dropper into water. The liquid hangs thickly from the dropper. Notice the slight slippery texture in your mouth.

------

One ounce contains 15 2-mL servings. Taken at 2 mL 2x/day, one ounce will last about a week. This standard dosage is for a 150 pound adult and may be adjusted in proportion to the weight of the user. For instance, a 30 pound child would take 1/5 of the 2 mL dose, or 2/5 mL, about half a dropperful. We are happy to help determine the dosage.
